The Local Thai Food and its members have given gave back to the community in every growing numbers. I am so proud to say that. With 2010 here, I would like the tradition of service by our membership to continue and to show that we can make Los Angeles a better place to live and all the people who have a need that we care.

Let's start 2010 right by helping others.

The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is a great opportunity to continue our mission in giving back to the community.

The mission of the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is to mobilize the resources of our community to fight hunger, the causes of hunger and the problems related to hunger. Through its network of more than 900 charities, the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank not only sources and acquires food but conducts hunger education and awareness campaigns and supports public policies that alleviates hunger. The goal is that no one in Los Angeles County will go hungry!

The new year brings hope and renewal for all of us but many families in Los Angeles still go hungry every day without our help. Millions of pounds of food still needs to be distributed every day. Our membership can help move this forward.

Local Thai Food will be co-organizing an event with the Eastside Foodies, and Cantonese Language Group Meetup groups to promote community service within its respective membership. Alexis Djivre will be working with me on promoting this important event and to get the word out.

If you are a member of one or any of the meetup groups, please RSVP with one group only so that we can keep spots open for those that want to help.

For those wondering what we will be doing, the LA Food Bank web site stated this: "Volunteers are needed to help package, sort, and assemble food packages that feeds needy individuals, families, seniors, and children in our community. Help us help those in need."
